Blake Bell to start for Oklahoma against Tulsa
Thanks to a knee injury to Trevor Knight, Oklahoma will start Blake Bell at quarterback against Tulsa this week.
“It’s both,” Stoops said. “It doesn’t matter. I said I didn’t feel things were what they needed to be. The bottom line was we had to do something different.”
Knight suffered a bruised knee just before halftime of Oklahoma's win over West Virginia on Saturday and though he continued to play in the second half, Knight didn't attempt any runs and threw a couple of interceptions. Stoops said he believes the injury affected Knight's performance.
Knight won the starting job in the summer to the surprise of many who had long assumed that Blake Bell, The Belldozer, would take over the starting job Landry Jones vacated. Of course, just because he's getting it now doesn't mean he'll keep the job.
While Knight hasn't exactly been impressive (he's completing 44 percent of his passes for 205 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions) it's not as if Bell has been much better in his limited opportunities. Bell has completed only three of the six passes he's thrown and rushed for 31 yards on seven attempts.
