Brian Kelly says Everett Golson has reapplied to Notre Dame
The latest step in Everett Golson's return to the Fighting Irish has been taken, as Brian Kelly says the quarterback has reapplied to school.
It's been known for months that Everett Golson would attempt to rejoin Notre Dame's football team after his dismissal from school earlier this year for cheating on a test. But according to Brian Kelly, the wheels for Golson's return have now actively begun to turn.
Per the Chicago Tribune, Kelly told reporters Tuesday that Golson has officially filed his application to be readmitted to Notre Dame. Golson would begin taking classes in the spring semester.
But Kelly said (and a school official confirmed) that a decision on Golson's application could come in mid-December, soon enough for Golson to participate in the Irish's bowl practices.
Golson's return would be highly welcome for Kelly and the Irish after the Myrtle Beach, S.C. native started 11 games during his team's surprise run to the 2012 BCS Championship Game. Both 2013 starter Tommy Rees and current backup Andrew Hendriix are seniors.
Golson told Sports Illustrated in October that he expected to be readmitted to school.
