Cal suspends player after altercation with teammate
A locker room altercation between teammates sent one player to the hospital and has now resulted in the suspension of the other.
Cal coach Sonny Dykes announced on Friday that the unnamed player would be suspended indefinitely, and will not participate in any team meetings. The player will also be required to attend counseling and perform 25 hours of community service to be considered for reinstatement.
The original altercation took place on Nov. 1 and resulted in Hale, a walk-on running back, needing to be hospitalized for a concussion. Hale also received stitches around his ear.
The suspension is independent of the current campus police investigation of the incident.
