Sacramento State @ California
Current Records: Sacramento State 1-1; California 0-2
What to Know
Considering their sizeable disadvantage in the spread, the Sacramento State Hornets can expect to have a real challenge on their hands Saturday. They will take on the California Golden Bears on the road at 4 p.m. ET at California Memorial Stadium.
The Hornets received a tough blow last week as they fell 34-16 to the Northern Iowa Panthers. Sacramento State was down 34-9 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
California lost a heartbreaker to the TCU Horned Frogs when they met in December of 2018, and they left with a heavy heart again last week. California fell just short of TCU by a score of 34-32. Despite the defeat, California got a solid performance out of QB Chase Garbers, who passed for two TDs and 309 yards on 27 attempts in addition to picking up 43 yards on the ground. Garbers hadn't helped his team much against the Nevada Wolf Pack two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
With the two teams each stumbling in off of a defeat, both will be hungry for the win. We'll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
