Clemson loses RB Zac Brooks for the season
Clemson running back Zac Brooks is out for the season due to a foot injury.
It was going to be hard enough for Clemson to overcome Florida State in the ACC this season, but Wednesday's news will make the task even more difficult.
Clemson announced running back Zac Brooks will miss the 2014 season because of a foot injury. Brooks finished third on the team last season with 246 rushing yards and two touchdowns, but was expected to take on a much larger role this year.
Instead he'll be on the sideline, and Brooks' absence means that the Tigers are without their leading passer, their two leading receivers and their three leading rushers from last season's team. That's a lot of offense to replace.
Brooks will redshirt the 2014 season and have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2015.
If there's any good news for the Tigers, it's that running back is one of the positions on the roster with a lot of depth, with D.J. Howard, C.J. Davidson and redshirt freshman Wayne Gallman, so they should be able to make up for the loss of Brooks.
