The new college football rankings were released on Sunday after a Week 9 that saw more than a handful of ranked teams lose, creating some significant shakeup in the Coaches Poll top 25.

Notre Dame had a notable move up from No. 11 up to No. 8 following its 44-34 win against North Carolina as the Fighting Irish continue to stake a claim as one of the best one-loss teams in the country. Just behind Notre Dame is one of the last undefeated teams in the country, Wake Forest, which moved from No. 13 up to No. 9 after a 45-7 win against Duke

Michigan State had the week's most notable win, pulling away from rival Michigan in a 37-33 instant classic. The Spartans moved from No. 7 to No. 6 after the win, checking in just behind No. 5 Ohio State and just ahead of No. 7 Oregon, while the Wolverines fell from No. 6 to No. 10.

Shakeups further down in the rankings teams were sparked by nine teams who were ranked in last week's Coaches Poll losing, and those defeats helped clear the way for big moves up for Baylor (up five spots to No. 13) and Auburn (up seven spots to No. 14) after Week 9 wins. Of those nine teams that lost, two fell out of the rankings and opened up space for Houston and BYU to not only get into the top 25 but crack the top 20.
