Through 3 Quarters

Only one more quarter stands between the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the win they were favored to collect going into this night. They have emerged as the frontrunner and are ahead of the Troy Trojans 28-21.

The Chanticleers have been riding high on the performance of QB Grayson McCall, who has passed for two TDs and 265 yards on 20 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 44 yards. Troy has been led by RB Kimani Vidal, who so far has rushed for one TD and 138 yards on 19 carries.

Troy has lost 75% of the time when they were down heading into the fourth quarter this season, so this one seems just about wrapped up

Who's Playing

Troy @ No. 24 Coastal Carolina

Current Records: Troy 4-3; Coastal Carolina 6-1

What to Know

After two games on the road, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are heading back home. Coastal Carolina and the Troy Trojans will face off in a Sun Belt battle at 7:30 p.m. ET Thursday at Brooks Stadium. The Chanticleers are out to keep their four-game home win streak alive.

Coastal Carolina might have drawn first blood against the Appalachian State Mountaineers last week, but it was Appalachian State who got the last laugh. It was close but no cigar for Coastal Carolina as they fell 30-27 to Appalachian State. Coastal Carolina was up 14 to nothing at the end of the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Speaking of close games: things were close when Troy and the Texas State Bobcats clashed two weeks ago, but Troy ultimately edged out the opposition 31-28. Troy's RB Kimani Vidal was on fire, rushing for two TDs and 162 yards on 25 carries. Vidal put himself on the highlight reel with a 51-yard TD scramble in the first quarter.

Coastal Carolina is the favorite in this one, with an expected 17-point margin of victory. Those burned by picking them against the spread last Wednesday might want to keep in mind that the team has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.

The Chanticleers are now 6-1 while the Trojans sit at 4-3. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Coastal Carolina is stumbling into the matchup with the 201st most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 11 on the season. Troy has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 136th worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 12 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
