What an incredible weekend for The Bottom 25 last weekend was, and what an incredible season we have going. Last week we talked about the parity at the bottom of the rankings and how we were already down to seven winless teams. Well, now we've got only four left as three of our winless teams won, including our No. 1 team, Ohio.
That's become a common theme as well. It's the third straight week that the No. 1 team in The Bottom 25 won their game the following week. The only team to be ranked No. 1 and lose was Colorado State in the first week of the rankings, and even though the Rams lost to Vanderbilt afterward, they dropped to No. 4 the following week. That means no team has remained at No. 1 and -- spoiler alert! -- there's an excellent chance this week's No. 1 team won't be No. 1 next week either.
So who is that team? And who are the other 24 to make up The Bottom 25? Let's find out together.

 | 24. Cal | 1-4 | Cal is one of those teams that isn't very good but probably isn't as bad as the record suggests. Their lone win was a 42-30 win over Sacramento State, but their 15-point loss to Washington State this weekend more than doubled their largest margin of defeat this season. The Bears are on a bye this week, but it's a road game against Oregon after that. (Not Ranked) |
 | 23. New Mexico | 2-3 | It took a while for the Lobos to join the party this season because they started the year 2-0 with wins over Houston Baptist and No. 6 New Mexico State. Since then, it's been three straight losses to Texas A&M, UTEP and Air Force. They've been outscored 92-23 in those losses, and this week they're on the road against a San Diego State team ranked in one of those inferior polls. (NR) |
 | 22. North Texas | 1-3 | I can't help but think Seth Littrell is in serious need of some victories. After two straight nine-win seasons in 2017 and 2018, the Not-So-Mean Green are 9-17 since. This week they're on the road to face a Missouri team that was just run over by Tennessee. (17) |
 | 21. Vanderbilt | 2-3 | Vanderbilt picked up a thrilling 30-28 win over UConn Saturday night, but beating UConn won't take you out of The Bottom 25. Now, if the Dores can go on the road and beat Florida this Saturday, that probably would. (14) |
 | 20. Old Dominion | 1-4 | I know Monarchs fans don't want to hear this right now, but I get a lot of joy from mentioning all the teams in The Bottom 25 that have lost to UTEP this season. Our former two-time champion Miners beat Old Dominion 28-21 on Saturday, and the Monarchs will be hitting the road again this week to take on Marshall. (NR) |
 | 19. Texas State | 1-3 | The Bobcats had the weekend off. They'll return to action on Saturday night against South Alabama. (16) |
 | 18. Tulane | 1-4 | The team with the best logo in sports isn't having a great time on the field. The Green Wave opened the season with an impressive five-point loss at Oklahoma and beat Morgan State a week later, but it's all gone horribly wrong since. East Carolina's Holton Ahlers and Keaton Mitchell terrorized the Wave defense in a 52-29 thumping. Now Tulane has to turn around and face Houston at home Thursday night. (NR) |
 | 17. Navy | 1-3 | Navy reminded us all of how unpredictable this sport is because even without Dillon Gabriel, Navy hadn't shown me any reason to believe it would beat UCF. It did, though, taking the Knights down 34-30. The Mids might be trending in the right direction, but they get another difficult game this week against SMU. (5) |
 | 16. Georgia State | 1-4 | Congratulations to my friends Robby and Crystal for getting married this weekend. I'm sorry I couldn't attend, but I hope Robby enjoys this gift of me ranking his alma mater in The Bottom 25. It was quite literally the least I could do. The Panthers get a surprisingly feisty Louisiana-Monroe this week. (NR) |
 | 15. South Florida | 1-4 | There just hasn't been a lot to feel good about with the Bulls this season. Granted, three of their five games have been on the road, and three of their four losses have come to teams currently ranked, but they just haven't seemed competitive. Perhaps that changes this week when they host No. 12 Tulsa. (19) |

Colorado | 1-4 | Colorado's best game of the season so far might've been a 10-7 loss to Texas A&M, in which the Aggies lost their starting QB to injury, and the Buffs offense couldn't do anything. After falling to USC 37-14 this week, Colorado's lost four straight and has been outscored 112-34 in the process. They're off this weekend but have what could be a pivotal game against No. 11 Arizona when they return to action. (23) |
 | 13. Rice | 2-3 | I think we're getting a better idea of what Rice is now. Put the Owls against Arkansas, Texas and Houston, and it won't be pretty. Put them against Texas Southern and their Conference USA brethren, and they look much different. The Owls took down Southern Miss 24-19 for their second consecutive win, and they've rewarded themselves for it with a bye. (8) |
 | 12. Tulsa | 1-4 | Coming into the year, it was hard to know which teams we should be high on after a strong year and which teams simply flourished in a strange 2020 season. I think we know which side this Tulsa team falls on. Either that or Zaven Collins was indeed a god. Tulsa got blitzed 45-10 by Houston and gets Memphis this week. (22) |
 | 11. Arizona | 0-4 | Will Arizona live to regret taking last weekend off when so many winless teams were able to get on the board? Only time will tell, but first, the Wildcats should worry about UCLA on Saturday. (13) |
 | 10. FIU | 1-4 | Losing to your rival sucks, and getting crushed by your rival is even worse. The Panthers lost The Shula Bowl to Florida Atlantic 58-21 and now have a quick turnaround before playing Charlotte on Friday. (24) |
 | 9. Southern Miss | 1-4 | The Golden Eagles lost to Rice 24-19 and have yet to pick up a win against an FBS program this season. They'll try to pick one up against The Mighty UTEP this weekend, and seriously, you guys, UTEP might be going bowling this year. If the Miners make a bowl game, I feel obligated to attend. (18) |
 | 8. Ohio | 1-4 | As I mentioned up top, the Bobcats became the latest No. 1 team to win a game, beating Akron 34-17. So while the Bobcats might be 1-4 on the season, they're 1-0 in the MAC, and that's what counts the most. This week they'll try to move to 2-0 against Central Michigan. (1) |
 | 7. Arkansas State | 1-4 | A helpful tip for those who play fantasy college football or do DFS: Start players facing Arkansas State. The Red Wolves have allowed 51.75 points per game against their four FBS opponents this season. This week you'll want to start all the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers you can get your hands on, as that's who the Red Wolves will be hosting on Thursday night. (12) |
 | 6. New Mexico State | 1-5 | I'm calling it now: The Aggies will win another game this season. Their offense is too capable not to pick up a win somewhere along the way. After scoring only 13 points in their first two games, the Aggies have scored 112 in their last four games. This week they'll need to score plenty more on the road against Nevada. (7) |
 | 5. UNLV | 0-5 | There's no shame in losing to UTSA this year, and the Rebels should feel good about themselves after keeping it close at 24-17. They've got this weekend off but will return to action with what should be one of their most winnable games at home against Utah State. (4) |
 | 4. Kansas | 1-4 | The Kansas defense is a mess. The Jayhawks have lost four straight and allowed at least 45 points in all four games. This week it was Iowa State putting up 59 on them. Hopefully, the Jayhawks will be able to use this week's bye to get some issues sorted out on that side of the ball. (10) |
 | 3. Akron | 1-4 | Akron lost to No. 8 Ohio 34-17 in The Bottom 25 Game of the Century of Last Week, and this week they'll be facing Bowling Green in a game that has been our Game of the Century of the Week plenty of times in the past. But not this week! (6) |
 | 2. UConn | 0-6 | UConn came so close to knocking off Vanderbilt in Nashville on Saturday night. I can't lie; as a life-long, die-hard Vanderbilt fan who bleeds black and gold, I was incredibly nervous. Unfortunately for the Huskies, Vandy made a game-winning field goal as time expired to win 30-28. (2) |
 | 1. UMass | 0-5 | UMass fell to Toledo 45-7, but you don't care about that. No, the only reason you're here is that you want me to tell you how the Minutemen get UConn this week. That's right!
