Alabama added a dynamic top-100 piece to its 2022 recruiting class as four-star defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry committed to the in-state Tide Wednesday live on CBS Sports HQ. Perry, a product of Pike Road High School in Alabama, committed to the Crimson Tide over Auburn, Texas, UCF and Clemson

The in-state prospect is a major addition to Alabama's star-studded recruiting class. Perry is the No. 12 top-100 recruit in the class of 2022 to commit to Alabama and fourth top-five in-state recruit to stick with the Tide. His addition pushes Alabama past Texas A&M to the No. 2 class in the nation, within striking distance of No. 1 Georgia

The 6-foot-2, 265-pound defensive lineman hails from Pike Road, Alabama, just 20 miles southeast of Montgomery. Perry ranks as the No. 74 overall prospect in the class of 2022, including the No. 11 defensive lineman in the industry standard 247Sports Composite Rating.

Perry led Pike Road to its first 5A football state championship with a 51-14 win over Pleasant Grove. He had three sacks in the first half. 247Sports Midland Recruiting Analyst Gabe Brooks had this scouting report of Perry:

Stout, broad-built front-line defensive playmaker who's not overly tall or long but plays simultaneously faster and stronger than listed size. Plays varied defensive roles with high activity and violence. Pursuit ability is terrific relative to size and projected position. Strong tackler with big-hit capability. Screams off the edge whether aligned as standing rush end or hand on the ground. In fact, shows outstanding pass-rush get-off, dip, and arc-running ability from three-point stance ... Elite defensive prospect who could possibly fit myriad roles depending on scheme. Plays like a big, powerful edge but could thrive as an even-front 3-technique.
