College football scores, top 25 rankings, schedule, NCAA games: LSU, Ohio State, Oregon cruise

The race toward the College Football Playoff continued to heat up in Week 12 after we saw a bit of a shakeup near the top of the CFP Rankings early last week. All of the teams firmly in contention were in action this weekend as they all looked to either secure their positioning or even improve their status here in mid-November.

No. 4 Georgia certainly did well enough to secure its position as the final team in the field with a 21-14 victory on the road over No. 12 Auburn in the latest edition of the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry. No. 8 Minnesota was not so lucky, however, as the Gophers were dealt the same fate as many others before them by falling in Kinnick Stadium to No. 20 Iowa. In the highlight game of the evening, No. 13 Baylor jumped out to a huge lead but was unable to fend off Oklahoma's largest comeback in school history in a 34-31 thriller in Waco. To cap it all off late night, Pac-12 favorites Oregon and Utah each took one step closer to what looks like an inevitable matchup in the conference title game come December.

There was a lot to cover with those games and everything in between. CBS Sports was here every step of the way to update you with the latest scores, highlights and storylines throughout the day. All times Eastern

Oklahoma just completed the largest comeback in program history. The Sooners trailed Baylor 28-3, but rally to come away with 34-31 win. Oklahoma shut out Baylor in the second half and won this game without star wideout CeeDee Lamb.

November 17, 2019, 4:13 AM

Baylor has officially blown a 28-3 lead against Oklahoma. The Sooners have scored 21 unanswered points to tie the game at 31. Jalen Hurts just threw his fourth touchdown pass of the night.

November 17, 2019, 3:49 AM

LSU fends off a second half surge from Ole Miss and come away with a 58-37 win. Despite throwing a pair of interceptions. LSU's Joe Burrow still manages to throw for 489 yards and five touchdowns. The Tigers rack up 714 yards of total offense and continue their undefeated season.

November 17, 2019, 3:38 AM

Cincinnati survives a test from South Florida and escapes with a 20-17 win as time expires. The Bearcats accumulated just 278 yards of total offense and only 78 came through the air. Still, Cincinnati moves to 9-1 on the season.

November 17, 2019, 3:36 AM

LSU's Joe Burrow throws his second interception of the night. If Ole Miss is able to find the end zone off the turnover, this could be a very tight finish in Oxford. John Rhys Plumlee currently has four rushing touchdowns and is absolutely torching the Tiger defense. Buckle up.

November 17, 2019, 3:00 AM

No. 17 Cincinnati has rallied back against South Florida to tie the game at 17 early in the fourth quarter. Michael Warren II continued to be a workhorse as he punched in the game-tying touchdown. The Bearcats have 169 yards on the ground compared to just 28 through the air. Yes, you read that correctly.

November 17, 2019, 2:46 AM

No. 25 Appalachian State trailed Georgia State 21-14 after one quarter. However, a 21-point second quarter has given the Mountaineers a 35-21 lead at halftime. Corey Xavier-Sutton has six catches for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns to pace Appalachian State.

November 17, 2019, 2:21 AM

Utah's Tyler Huntley is making it look easy. The Utes have an early 7-3 advantage thanks to this sensational individual effort in the red zone.

November 17, 2019, 1:38 AM

Baylor has absolutely dominated Oklahoma thus far. Bears lead 21-3 after quarterback Charlie Brewer rushes for his second touchdown of the night. Baylor is currently outgaining Oklahoma 168-53 in terms of total offense. The Sooners are sorely missing star wideout CeeDee Lamb, who is missing the game due to a medical issue.

November 17, 2019, 1:36 AM

Minnesota is the latest victim to fall to Iowa at Kinnick. Hawkeyes win 23-19 and are now 5-1 in home games vs AP Top 7 teams since 2008. Natural letdown spot for the Gophers after that big Penn State win. Don't think it's a huge deal, though. Obviously playoff chances take a hit, but I figure they were a long shot to win out anyway. Rose Bowl is still on the line and this is still by every metric a successful season.

November 17, 2019, 12:35 AM

Georgia survives a fourth quarter rally from Auburn to come away with a 21-14 win. With the victory, the Bulldogs have won the SEC East for the third consecutive season. Quarterback Jake Fromm tossed three touchdown passes while D'Andre Swift added 106 yards on the ground.

November 17, 2019, 12:34 AM

What a finish to Texas and Iowa State. The Longhorns marched all the way back to take a 21-20 lead. But then Iowa State lined up for a field goal of its own and wins 23-21 as time expires. Horns are going to kick themselves for lining up offsides that gave the Cyclones not only a first down to continue their drive, but ran more clock as well. Texas now falls to 6-4.

November 17, 2019, 12:11 AM

Texas looked absolutely lifeless against Iowa State through about three quarters. But after a couple of long touchdown drives and a key stop, it's 21-20 Horns with 5:37 left in the game. What an incredible comeback. This offense has come alive and Devin Duvernay has been a stud. Ehlinger's last touchdown was a result of him keeping the play alive with his legs.

November 16, 2019, 11:42 PM

With a 42-10 win over Idaho State, BYU is the first team to secure its bowl destination. Cougars are headed to Hawaii.

November 16, 2019, 11:15 PM

How are things going with Ohio State and Rutgers? Well, this ought to answer that. Chris Olave is out here catching footballs the hard way. 49-7 Buckeyes and we can go ahead and sim the rest of the game.

November 16, 2019, 11:06 PM

After being in a tight one with Houston for the first half, Memphis opens up a 35-20 lead on Houston in the second half. There's still a quarter and some change to go, but there's a bit more breathing room now for the Tigers. Quarterback Brady White has 291 yards passing and four touchdowns. This Memphis team seems to always answer the call whenever pressure is applied.

November 16, 2019, 10:54 PM

Iowa doing its best dramatic gopher impersonation. It nearly worked, too. Minnesota boinked the field goal going into the half off the upright, but it bounced in. 20-6 Hawkeyes at the half.

November 16, 2019, 10:41 PM

No. 19 Texas is definitely on upset alert. Iowa State's Brock Purdy hits Deshaunte Jones for a 75-yard touchdown to open the second half. Cyclones lead the Longhorns 17-7.

November 16, 2019, 10:37 PM

Georgia leads Auburn 14-0 at halftime after a Brian Herrien touchdown late in the second quarter. The Bulldogs offense has been explosive at times despite Jake Fromm only passing for 91 yards.

November 16, 2019, 10:31 PM

Iowa State leads Texas 10-7 at the half, but check out this touchdown catch from Horns wideout Brennan Eagles. Great effort to come back to the ball and then the body control and concentration to haul in the contested pass. He's a young one, but has made some highlight reel catches this year. It's a grinder in Ames, but it is just a field goal game after 30 minutes.

November 16, 2019, 10:14 PM

Clemson is putting it on Wake Forest 31-3 at the half. Trevor Lawrence has been great, hitting Tee Higgins for three touchdowns, including this little dime in the corner of the end zone. Lawrence has had some ups and downs this year -- he's still just a true sophomore -- but when he's on, he's on. The guy throws some of the prettiest balls of any quarterback in the country. He'll remind you frequently why there's so much hype on him as a NFL prospect.

November 16, 2019, 10:12 PM

As you'd expect, Ohio State is having its way with Rutgers by a score of 28-7 in the second quarter. Maybe the bigger story is that the Scarlet Knights scored a touchdown when they've scored a whopping three total points in their previous three meetings.

Notre Dame is putting an absolute shellacking on Navy. 38-0 and we're just getting to halftime. Thought the Irish might be on upset alert but there has been absolutely no room for the Midshipmen. You can tell pretty early in a game if a team is going to struggle or thrive against the triple option, but I certainly didn't expect this.

As should come as no surprise, Ohio State is already rolling against Rutgers. A pair of turnovers have led to two Buckeye touchdowns. Justin Fields hit Binjimen Victor from 11 yards out for the second score and only seven minutes have elapsed in the opening quarter.

November 16, 2019, 9:05 PM

Dan Mullen is pulling for an Auburn upset over Georgia today. A win would benefit the Gators in the race for the SEC title game.

November 16, 2019, 8:42 PM

Penn State holds on to beat Indiana 34-27. The Hoosiers have mastered the play close, but lose painfully model. There's no question Indiana is a fun team and they're much improved on the year. Penn State's once-stifling defense looks far more mortal and I wonder how they're going to shut down Ohio State next week (if they can). In any case, survive and advance.

Notre Dame is clicking on all cylinders against Navy in the first half. Wideout Chase Claypool is playing out of his mind thus far with three receiving touchdowns to lead the Irish. This one came on a perfectly placed throw from Ian Book and gave Notre Dame a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.

November 16, 2019, 8:35 PM

It's been the worst possible day for Alabama given how badly they are beating Mississippi State. On top of Tua's injury, Raekwon Davis is on crutches. Henry Ruggs is hurt, too. Almost a Red Wedding type of a situation for the Tide.
