College Football Week 2 expert picks & predictions: Pros all over Auburn, UNLV
Professional college football bettors are loving UNLV and Auburn this weekend
College football's opening weekend was full of upsets and surprises. This week's games will attract even more bets from average Joes and professional bettors.
Oklahoma is a touchdown underdog against Ohio State. Clemson is a 5.5-point favorite over Auburn. Georgia is a 4.5-point dog at Notre Dame and many opening lines have already begun to move dramatically.
With so many eye-popping games and so many college football odds changing, you'll want to know to what the "sharps" are picking. They're the guys who make their entire living betting sports. Ignoring them means throwing away your money and banking on luck.
Why is backing UNLV shocking? The Rebels are coming off an outright loss to Howard, an FCS school quarterbacked by Cam Newton's brother, as a 45-point home favorite -- the biggest point spread upset in college football history.
This week's line started at UNLV -9, but heavy action by the sharps on UNLV has pushed it down to -6.5. The wiseguys see a "buy" sign on a humiliated team whose value is at an all-time low.
West Virginia, which lost by seven to Virginia Tech on Sunday, is getting love and money from the pros too, according to SportsLine. The Mountaineers moved from -19.5 to -24.5 for their Saturday noon ET kickoff against East Carolina.
"Oklahoma State is still getting a lot of sharp love against these feeble opponents," BookMaker college football odds consultant Scott Cooley told SportsLine. "Mike Gundy seems to be embracing the running-up-the-score mantra."
And No. 13 Auburn is getting plenty of pro betting action as five-point underdogs against No. 3 Clemson. The line moved down as pros jumped, and the number will continue changing as kickoff on Saturday approaches.
Pro bettors are also all over one side of the Ohio State-Oklahoma game, causing bookmakers everywhere to change their college football odds.
