College Football Week 5 expert picks & predictions: Pros loving Wisconsin, K-State

College football's first few weekends have been full of upsets and surprises. This week's games will attract even more bets from average Joes and professional bettors.

No. 2 Clemson is a seven-point favorite over No. 12 Virginia Tech, No. 5 USC is favored by five at No. 16 Washington State and No. 13 Auburn is an eight-point favorite against No. 24 Mississippi State, down from the opening spread of -10.

With so many eye-popping games and so many college football odds changing, you'll want to know to what the "sharps" are picking. They're the guys who make their entire living betting sports. If you want to win like a pro, you need to bet like one.

One team the pros love this week: Wisconsin, which is favored by 15.5 at home against Northwestern. The line opened at 14.5, but pro money pushed it up a point. The Over-Under, meanwhile, has dipped sharply from 53 to 48. Wisconsin hasn't given up more than 14 points in a game this season.

Both and MGM Resorts took sharp money on Kansas State -14 against Baylor, pushing that line all the way up to -17 on BookMaker. The pros aren't putting much stock in Baylor's closer-than-expected 49-41 loss to Oklahoma last week and expect Bill Snyder to take care of business at home against the Bears. K-State has been idle since its 14-7 loss to Vanderbilt two weeks ago.

And the pros aren't just focusing on the big games this week. Both the Greek Sportsbook and BookMaker have taken sharp money on Akron -2.5 in its Mid-American Conference opener at Bowling Green. A spokesman for BookMaker described the sharp action as "serious," meaning the professional money is pouring in on the Zips.

The Zips lost 52-0 at Penn State in their opener before defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 52-3. They've been outscored 63-31 the last two weeks, but the pros are all-in on them anyway against winless Bowling Green.

Pros and the public alike are all over Georgia for their Top-25 clash with SEC rival Tennessee, according to BookMaker. The line has moved from Bulldogs -7 to -8. Georgia is undefeated this season against the spread, while Tennessee looked vulnerable despite defeating UMass last Saturday.

Also, one side of Clemson-Virginia Tech is getting substantial money, causing bookmakers everywhere to move their lines.
