After another offseason full of national attention, the Colorado Buffaloes will kick off their second season under head coach Deion Sanders in a week. The Buffs underwent another massive roster overhaul after finishing with a 4-8 overall record in 2023. The Colorado football roster will once again feature All-American candidates Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, but Coach Prime and his staff added 55 new scholarship players to the Colorado football roster during the offseason. Over 40 players from the team's 2023 roster transferred to new schools following the season.

With so many new faces in the Champions Center in Boulder, the Buffs will unsurprisingly have a drastically different look in 2024. Several position battles still haven't been settled, and the Colorado football depth chart likely won't be locked in until the team's season opener against North Dakota State. If you want to see the latest Colorado football camp news, be sure to see what the proven team of insiders are saying at BuffStampede, the 247Sports affiliate that covers Colorado.

Top Colorado Buffaloes practice storylines

Priority No. 1 for Coach Prime and his staff this offseason was getting better on the offensive line, but right behind that was upgrading the skill position talent around Shedeur Sanders. The Buffs add four wide receivers from the Transfer Portal, as well as four-star high school recruit Drelon Miller. They also revamped their running back room adding transfers Dallan Hayden (Ohio State) and Isaiah Augustave (Arkansas), and true freshman signees Micah Welch and Brandon Hood.

One player that has stood out in fall camp is wide receiver Will Sheppard, who transferred to Colorado after four years at Vanderbilt. During his time with the Commodores, Sheppard caught 152 passes for 2,067 yards and 21 touchdowns. He now has the opportunity to become the No. 1 wide receiver in Colorado's explosive offense, and have a career year in 2024. "I came here to have all eyes on me and show the world what I can do," Sheppard told BuffStampede. "To play on a bigger stage and to have the opportunity to play on the big stage." Get more updates on how the Colorado offensive line depth chart is shaping up at BuffStampede

Another priority for the Buffs this offseason was improving the team's defensive line. Colorado struggled to get a consistent pass rush and hold up against the run up front in 2023, so Coach Prime overhauled his staff and personnel to address the issue. CU added four-star high school recruit Brandon Davis-Swain, and coveted transfers Dayon Hayes (Pitt), BJ Green (Arizona State), Quency Wiggins (LSU), and Samuel Okunlola (Pitt), but the most impactful new member of the Buffs' defensive line room may ultimately be Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp.

Sapp is listed as a senior quality control coach for the defense, assisting defensive line coach Damione Lewis and outside linebackers coach Vincent Dancy. "We are developing some depth right now. We got five ends that'll rush. I tell them, 'We got five ends on a two lane highway so y'all better fight for those reps.' Because they are going to go fast. We are just building depth. We want the guys to be nice and solid because the one thing I did see last year before I turned the TV off was we couldn't stop the run and that won't happen with me. No. We are going to earn our right to rush by stopping the run," Sapp told BuffStampede. Get the latest updates on the Colorado defensive line depth chart at BuffStampede.
