Construction worker dies after fall at Texas A&M stadium
25-year-old Angel Garcia was pronounced dead after a four-story fall.
Texas A&M announced Tuesday that a construction worker suffered a fatal fall while working on the school's Kyle Field renovation project.
Lindamood Demolition employee Angel Garcia, 25, fell four stories at approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in nearby Bryan a short time later.
“The thoughts and prayers of all of us at the A&M System and within the Bryan and College Station community are with the Garcia family,” A&M System Chancellor John Sharp said in a statement published by the Houston Chronicle.
“On behalf of Texas A&M University and the extended Aggie family I offer our deepest sympathy to the family of the construction worker who tragically passed away,” university president R. Bowen Loftin said.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Texas A&M University System, university police and contractor Manhattan-Vaughan Construction are investigating the accident.
Kyle Field is undergoing a $450 million renovation that will expand capacity to 102,500 for the 2015 season.
