Police officers in Tennessee pulled over a couple when the Buckeye leaf bumper sticker on their car was confused for a marijuana leaf.

If you're an Ohio State fan with a Buckeye leaf bumper sticker on your car, you might want to think twice about driving through the state of Tennessee. Maybe drive around it if you can, or else you might be pulled over by police and confused for some kind of drug baron.
Just ask 65-year-old Bonnie Jonas-Boggioni and her 66-year-old husband, Guido Boggioni.
The Boggionis were driving home to Texas from a funeral in Columbus, Ohio when they were pulled over by police east of Memphis when the Buckeye leaf bumper sticker on their car was confused for a marijuana leaf.
From the Detroit Free-Press:
The two were pulled over a few miles east of Memphis, along I-40, and were greeted by a pair of black SUVs containing officers wearing "body armor and guns," Jonas-Boggioni told Joe Blundo of The Columbus Dispatch.
"What are you doing with a marijuana sticker on your bumper?" one of the officers asked.
That led Jonas-Boggioni and her husband to explain the meaning of the Ohio State sticker, which is given as a reward to OSU players. To help the puzzled officers connect the dots, Boggioni stepped out of the car to show his 2002 national-championship sweatshirt, one "complete with a Buckeye leaf," Blundo wrote.
Now, to be fair to the police, even though the Buckeye leaf and a marijuana leaf really don't look all that much alike, I suppose it could be hard to tell the difference on a moving car. The problem is that, even if it were a marijuana leaf on the bumper sticker, that's not enough reason to pull somebody over, let alone assume they're the head of some drug ring.
I mean, if you were a drug kingpin, would you advertise it on your car while travelling across borders into different states?
Why, that would be stupider than mistaking a Buckeye leaf for a marijuana leaf.
