Defensive end Frank Herron picks LSU
LSU added a rare out-of-state recruit to their upcoming recruiting class on Friday after Memphis (Tenn.) defensive end Frank Herron picked the Tigers.
"LSU has been showing me love for a long time and I know that's the right place for me," Herron told Scout. "My mama can come down there. It's not that far from home."
The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder picked LSU over his other finalists Clemson, Memphis, Mississippi State and Tennessee. At the end of the day, Herron's relationship with Tigers defensive line coach Brick Haley was one of the deciding factors.
"Coach Haley is a great guy," said Herron. "He is just a good man. He stayed on me the whole time and I have a lot of respect for him."
LSU is up to 14 commitments for the class of 2013 with Herron's pledge. Last season as a junior he had 54 tackles and seven sacks.
