Dollar General Bowl score: Troy edges Ohio on way to first 10-win season
The Trojans won the first bowl game they've played in six years
The game was sloppy early as the two teams combined for six first-half turnovers. Four of those were by Ohio quarterback Greg Windham, who finished the game with five total turnovers in a rough outing in his final game with the Bobcats. Those five turnovers led to 21 of the Trojans' 28 points on the night as Troy's offense was able to capitalize on good field position despite Ohio playing quality defense all night.
The Bobcats' defense limited Troy to 322 total yards, but with scoring drives of 4, 18 and 48 yards, Troy didn't have to go particularly far to find the end zone. Ohio dominated the fourth quarter, out-gaining the Trojans 124-24, it but could only produce six points on two field goals once into scoring territory.
Running back Jordan Chunn didn't have a ton of production on the evening with 56 yards on 20 carries, but he was efficient in turning those few yards into points with three rushing touchdowns.
The win gives Troy a 10-win season, the first for the program since moving to FBS in 2001. Neal Brown's squad made an impressive turnaround in his second season as coach, going from 4-8 to 10-3 with their first bowl appearance and win since 2010.
