Embattled Colorado coach Jon Embree has the support of school president
While many are calling for his head after a disastrous 0-3 start, Colorado coach Jon Embree at least has the school president in his corner.
The follies of Colorado's start to the season have been well documented around here and, not surprisingly, there are plenty of people who care about Colorado football who are already calling for the head of new coach Jon Embree.
That's what happens when you lose to rival Colorado State (which seems to be just as dreadful as Colorado at the moment), Sacramento State and give up 55 points in the first half against Fresno State.
Still, though some people in Boulder are grabbing their pitchforks and heading to Folsom Field, Embree has at least one important man in his corner: school president Bruce Benson.
"I think players kind of said it all after the game when they said, 'This is the best set of coaches we've ever had, and we're really behind them and they're great guys,'" Benson told BuffZone. "Obviously, people are always going to get upset over something. It's not the first time in my life I've seen people upset.
"All we can say is we have a serious rebuilding."
A serious rebuilding that has been going on for quite a while, too. Since the end of the 2005 season, when Colorado lost to Clemson in the Champs Sports Bowl to finish the season 7-6, the Buffaloes have gone 24-53. The school's lone bowl appearance in that time came in 2007; Colorado finished that season 6-7 after losing to Alabama in the Independence Bowl.
It's tough to lay all the blame for the team's struggles at the feet of Embree, but this already happening to him only three weeks into his second season isn't a good sign for the Colorado coach.
