Fakih commits to Michigan as preferred walk-on

With Michigan closing out on the 2017 recruiting cycle, not only is the outlook for the scholarship players becoming apparent, but so, too, is it coming for some of the unheralded future Wolverines.

And one local Michigan product is adding his name to the list of those who will be wearing maize and blue in 2017.

Franklin (MI) Detroit Country Day outside linebacker Adam Fakih has informed Wolverine247 that he has accepted his offer to be a preferred walk-on player for Michigan, and will be a Wolverine this fall.

Fakih was one of the many preferred walk-on visitors who took in what the program has to offer this past weekend. He reported on Twitter on Saturday that he was given an offer to further his athletic and scholastic career in Ann Arbor.

While preferred walk-ons such as Fakih will enroll without an athletic scholarship, there is the possibility to not only earn one, but to also become a starter at their respective positions. Michigan can boast success stories such as former walk-ons who turned into starters, such former center Graham Glasgow, who now plays for the Detroit Lions in the NFL, outgoing senior defensive tackle Ryan Glasgow and former safety Jordan Kovacs, who has spent most of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins.
