Florida State and Oklahoma State have agreed to kick off their 2014 seasons in Arlington, Texas, facing off in Cowboys Stadium for the annual Cowboys Classic Labor Day Weekend matchup.
ESPN announced Wednesday that the agreement with the Dallas Cowboys has been extended through 2024, guaranteeing at least 12 more years of opening-weekend showdowns in the massive 80,000-plus-seat dome. The 2013 Cowboys Classic on Saturday, Aug. 31, will feature LSU and TCU. Both teams have participated, and won, previous Cowboys Classic events -- TCU defeating Oregon State in 2010, LSU defeating Oregon to kick off 2011.
CBSSports.com's Jeremy Fowler previously reported that Florida State and Oklahoma State were in discussions to play a 2014 game in Cowboys Stadium, and Wednesday announcements made the news official. The game -- set for Saturday, Aug. 30 -- will be the fifth meeting between the Cowboys and Seminoles, the first since Florida State downed Oklahoma State in the 1985 Gator Bowl.
Alabama defeated Michigan 41-14 in the 2012 Cowboys Classic. You may remember it as the most-hyped game that was over by halftime.
