Georgia's season opener against Appalachian State is already the subject of bad news. Bulldogs quarterback Jacob Eason was injured during the first quarter of Saturday's game when he was tackled out of bounds. Eason, a sophomore, came up limping and had to be helped off the field.

Coach Kirby Smart said at halftime on the UGA radio network that Eason had "a little bit of a knee sprain" and has been undergoing further evaluation. Jake Fromm entered the game as Eason's replacement. Fromm led three scoring drives as Georgia took a 21-0 halftime lead.

Eason passed for 2,430 yards and 16 touchdowns last season as a freshman, and was a big part of Georgia's SEC East title aspirations coming into 2017.
