Golson to work with 'QB guru' before returning to Notre Dame
Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson will spend a few months working with "quarterback guru" George Whitfield before returning to Notre Dame in the winter.
When Notre Dame takes the field next week it won't have Everett Golson on the field or on the sidelines. The former Irish quarterback is still not back at the school after being expelled in May, but he does plan on returning to the school.
Golson also has plans on how he'll kill some time before he returns to South Bend.
According to Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly Golson will spend two months working with quarterback coach George Whitfield in San Diego this fall. Whitfield runs a quarterback training facility in San Diego and the former college quarterback has worked with plenty of college quarterbacks before.
After working with Whitfield the plan is for Golson to return to Notre Dame around Thanksgiving to begin preparing for the winter semester when he'll return to school. The plan for Golson would then be to have him back on the team for the 2014 season when he'll still have two years of eligibility left.
Golson helped lead the Fighting Irish to the national championship game last season, and unlike just about all of his teammates, he actually fared pretty well against Alabama in the game. He finished the day with 270 yards passing and a touchdown, though a lot of that damage came after the game had been decided.
Though about 85% of the game was played after the outcome had been decided, so we probably shouldn't hold that against Golson.
