Heismancast: Heisman week has finally arrived
Chris Huston, the Heisman Pundit, joins Chip Patterson to discuss the Heisman Trophy finalists and share the results of his final straw poll
|Will it be Johnny Manziel, Manti Te'o, or Collin Klein hoisting the Heisman Trophy on Saturday? (US Presswire)|
Chris Huston (@HeismanPundit) joins me for a most timely edition of the Heismancast. This is arguably one of the biggest weeks of Chris' year, and he was gracious enough to give us a look behind the scenes of Heisman Week with the Heisman Pundit.
After getting an idea of what is on tap this week, Chris and I tackle the news of the day: Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o and Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein were named Heisman Trophy finalists on Monday. Chris and I discuss not only how the different voting regions might have ranked the finalists, but what players likely fell outside of the top three.
With all the ballots in -- and Chris' straw poll predicting Manziel as the Heisman Trophy winner -- we review the full season and try to put the race in perspective. Each season has presented different twists in the Heisman story, and 2012 presented the most unique confluence of events to bring us to this point. Manziel's stats speak for themselves, but is he a Heisman front-runner as a freshman without the win at Alabama? We look back at the different players to share the term "frontrunner" this season.
