Who's Playing

No. 12 Kentucky @ Mississippi State

Current Records: Kentucky 6-1; Mississippi State 4-3

What to Know

The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Kentucky Wildcats are even-steven against one another since October of 2015 (3-3), but not for long. MSU and the Wildcats will face off in an SEC battle at 7 p.m. ET Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field. MSU should still be riding high after a victory, while UK will be looking to right the ship.

When you finish with 377 more yards than your opponent like MSU did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They put a hurting on the Vanderbilt Commodores on the road to the tune of 45-6. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-3. QB Will Rogers and WR Makai Polk were among the main playmakers for MSU as the former passed for four TDs and 384 yards on 57 attempts and the latter snatched two receiving TDs.

Meanwhile, the game between the Wildcats and the Georgia Bulldogs two weeks ago was not a total blowout, but with UK falling 30-13 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. No one had a standout game offensively for UK, but they got scores from TE Justin Rigg and WR Wan'Dale Robinson.

This next matchup is expected to be close, with MSU going off at just a 1.5-point favorite. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.

MSU's win brought them up to 4-3 while UK's loss pulled them down to 6-1. A couple defensive stats to keep an eye on: MSU is 226th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 14 on the season. UKs have had an even harder time: they are stumbling into the game with the 197th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 11 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
