Jay Paterno running for office in Pennsylvania
The son of Joe Paterno is running for lieutenant governor in the state of Pennsylvania.
Jay Paterno is looking to make the transition from working for Penn State to working for the state of Pennsylvania.
Paterno announced his candidacy for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania on Thursday.
Jay Paterno, the son of Penn State coach Joe Paterno, has not coached football since the end of the 2011 season, but he does have political experience. He worked for Barack Obama's campaigns in 2008 and 2012, and introduced the President at a rally at Penn State in 2008.
While Paterno has decided to run for office, he still needs to get on the ballot. In order to do that he'll need the signatures of 1,000 registered voters in Pennsylvania, including 100 from five different counties in the state. Given that his last name is Paterno, it's hard to imagine he'll have trouble finding those 1,000 signatures he needs.
