Jerry Palm on playoff selection committee, BCS bowl projections
Jerry Palm joins Chip Patterson to discuss the headaches ahead for the College Football Playoff and break down some of the title races in BCS conferences.
If you take a look at the current projections of the BCS standings, you will see that Clemson is sitting at No. 2 behind Alabama. The computer rankings will change, quickly, until there is a stronger set of data (more games played), so it is important to take such information with many grains of salt.
But such a revelation got me thinking about the season-ending battle for No. 1 and No. 2 in the BCS standings. The official numbers aren't run and released until Sunday, Oct. 20, after the Week 8 action, but since it is the last time we will use the BCS to determine college football's national champion, I felt it would be appropriate to catch up with BCS expert Jerry Palm (@jppalmCBS).
Tune in as Jerry and I discuss not only the makeup of the College Football Playoff selection committee, but the headaches ahead for using such a committee to pick a four team playoff in college football. We also touch on some of the most intriguing conference races, getting some insight into his current version of the bowl projections.
Oh yeah, and Jerry says there is no way Ohio State will get jumped in the BCS standings by any one-loss team if the Buckeyes are undefeated -- even if that one-loss team is the SEC Champion.
