Kansas ends its 27-game Big 12 losing streak
Kansas wins a Big 12 game for the first time in three years, knocking off West Virginia 31-19.
The date was Nov. 6, 2010 when Kansas, led by Turner Gill in his first season, scored 35 points in the fourth quarter to come back from a 45-17 deficit against Colorado and win 52-45. That was the last time Kansas won a Big 12 football game.
Yes, that's right, Kansas' 27-game Big 12 losing streak came to an end on Saturday with a 31-19 win over West Virginia in Lawrence. And don't let that final score fool you, as the game was never really in doubt. The Jayhawks actually took a 31-7 lead on the Mountaineers with 6:24 to play before giving up a couple meaningless scores.
Kansas was led by running back James Sims, who rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns as Kansas finished with 315 rushing yards as a team compared to only 61 yards through the air.
Of course, the means is not as important as the end here. Now Charlie Weis and the Jayhawks just need to hope it's not another three years before they win their next conference game.
Oh, and if you're Dana Holgorsen, you should probably be worried about today's result. The head coach of that Colorado team Kansas beat in 2010 was Dan Hawkins. Hawkins was fired three days later.
