Kelsey, Louisville motivated to stop LSU

LSU star Leonard Fournette is skipping the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl to prepare for the NFL Draft, but Louisville senior linebacker Keith Kelsey said he and the 9-3 Cardinals want to end the season on a high note after dropping their final two games.
Kelsey, who will play his final home game for the Cardinals, said Louisville has plenty of motivation as they prepare to face the Tigers in Orlando Dec. 31.
“We’re enjoyying it, we have the right mindset and out here grinding,” Kelsey said after practice Monday. “Coach P hasn’t changed nothing. We come out each (day), grind it out. It’s all the same stuff.”
A Florida native, Kelsey is looking forward to ending a stellar college career in his home state where his family will watch him play.
“There is a lot of motivation, especially being LSU, “ said Kelsey. “It’s a great team we’re facing. It’s very exciting. I’m trying to go out there in my last game and win with my teammates. All my family who have never seen me play get to see my last game. I want to go out with a bang.”
Kelsey knows Louisville’s big challenge defensively will be stopping LSU’s powerful running attack, even without Fournette. Derrius Guice led the SEC in rushing this season and Kelsey said the Tigers standout reminds him of Florida State running back Dalvin Cook.
“He’s very elusive for his size,” Kelsey said. “He has great speed. We have to take good angles.”
Louisville ranked sixth nationally stopping the run and held Cook to just 54 yards this season.
“We know what they’re going to do, they are not going to fool us,” said Kelsey. “They’re going to try to run the ball. We’re very good at stopping the run, especially when people just run the ball out of the pro formation. They have great backs and big, physical offensive linemen.”
