Through 3 Quarters

Down 21 at the end of last quarter, the Buffalo Bulls have now snagged the lead. It's anybody's game after three quarters, but Buffalo is ahead of the Kent State Golden Flashes 38-34.

The Bulls have enjoyed the tag-team combination of RB Kevin Marks Jr. and RB Dylan McDuffie. The former has rushed for two TDs and 79 yards on 16 carries, while the latter has rushed for one TD and 87 yards on ten carries. The team has gotten extra help from defensive menace CB Ja'Marcus Ingram and his ten tackles.

Kent State has been riding high on the performance of QB Dustin Crum, who has passed for two TDs and 324 yards on 32 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 72 yards.

What to Know

A Mid-American battle is on tap between the Kent State Golden Flashes and the Buffalo Bulls at 7 p.m. ET Saturday at Dix Stadium. If the contest is anything like Buffalo's 70-41 victory from their previous meeting in November of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.

Kent State was able to grind out a solid win over the Bowling Green Falcons last week, winning 27-20.

Meanwhile, it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, but the Bulls were not quite the Western Michigan Broncos' equal in the second half when they met last week. Buffalo took a 24-17 hit to the loss column. RB Ron Cook Jr. put forth a good effort for the losing side as he punched in one rushing touchdown. That touchdown -- a 55-yard rush in the first quarter -- was one of the highlights of the game.

Kent State is the favorite in this one, with an expected 7-point margin of victory. Those sticking with them against the spread have guts, to put it politely, as the squad has let down bettors in their past three games.

Kent State's win brought them up to 2-3 while the Bulls' loss pulled them down to an identical 2-3. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Golden Flashes are 209th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with nine on the season. Buffalo is completely their equal: they are stumbling into the matchup with the 209th most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up nine on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
