Kliff Kingsbury contract extension

Texas Tech is hoping to keep Kliff Kingsbury in Lubbock for quite a while, as the school announced Friday that it had agreed to a contract extension with its coach.

Kingsbury was hired at Texas Tech in Dec. 2012 and his original deal ran through the 2017 season. This extension will keep him with the Red Raiders through the 2020 season, and while the school did not release financial details of the new extension, according to one report, he won't be hurting for cash.

Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman reports that Kingsbury's deal is worth a total of $24.2 million and will pay the coach an average of $3.5 million per season

That's a lot of money for a coach who went 8-5 in his first season as a head coach on any level, but obviously Texas Tech isn't paying Kingsbury for what he's done, but for what they believe he can do for the program.
