A number of schools honored former military members this week for Veterans Day. Many, like Louisville, opted for special uniforms while others had American flag-themed helmets.

Northwestern chose to carry its former Navy SEAL off the field.

Following the Wildcats' 45-17 win over Purdue, players lifted linebacker Tom Hruby on their shoulders and carried him off to honor him for this holiday weekend.

Hruby's story is an outstanding one. The senior became a SEAL in 2006 and had tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. You can read more about Hruby's background in Northwestern's profile of the linebacker here.

Hruby has contributed mostly on special teams during his playing career, but he was the star on Saturday and more than deserving of the recognition he received among his teammates and coaches.
