LSU landed its 13th commitment in the class of 2021 on Wednesday as four-star edge rusher Naquan Brown committed to the Tigers. Brown hails from Virginia Beach, Virginia, and is the No. 7-ranked player from the state in the class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Brown also considered Miami, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Louisville, among others. He announced the commitment in a video posted to social media that included a heartfelt backstory about how developed a passion for football.
"Where I'm from, not too many make it out," Brown said in the video. "They either die or get locked up. There were some days when I couldn't go outside because it wasn't safe. There were days that my mom had to stretch meals so that my brothers, sisters and I could eat. Her biggest worry was that we would get caught up with the wrong crowd and start to get in some trouble. I took a different route and saw that sports could be a way out."
Brown led Ocean Lakes High School in sacks each of the past two seasons, according to the Virginian-Pilot. He told Geaux247 he likes how LSU's 4-3 defensive scheme is set up, adding that, "I think I will be a big impact on it because of my abilities coming off the edge, and my quickness."
Following Wednesday's pledge from Brown, 11 of the Tigers' 13 commitments in the class of 2021 are considered four-star prospects by 247Sports. Collectively, the class is ranked No. 9 in the country and third in the SEC.
