Michigan State receiver out for season following knee surgery
Spartans wide receiver A.J. Troup will miss the 2013 season.
Michigan State announced that wide receiver A.J. Troup will miss the entire 2013 season after having knee surgery on Tuesday. Troup injured his knee during workouts.
A walk-on, Troup redshirted the 2011 season thanks to a knee injury as well, and did not play during the 2012 season, though he was drawing rave reviews from coaches and teammates during spring practice. During Michigan State's spring practice Troup went 46 yards for the game-winning touchdown.
Considering that Michigan State's passing offense was less than stellar last season -- the Spartans finished in the bottom third of the Big Ten in yards per attempt and touchdowns while finishing last with a passing efficiency of 107.41 -- Troup had a chance of making an impact in 2013.
