Five ranked teams lost during the second week of college football, leading to a few new faces in the Associated Press Top 25.

No. 15 Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes and No. 25 Ole Miss Rebels made their Top 25 debut after a second week that featured embarrassing losses for Southern California Trojans and Texas Longhorns

The Trojans struggled offensively, unable to get consistent play from quarterback Cody Kessler and Max Wittek , in a 10-7 loss to Washington State Cougars in their home opener. The Longhorns were on the road, setting a new school record for rushing yards allowed in a 40-21 loss to Brigham Young Cougars . Cougars quarterback Taysom Hill powered the 550 yard rushing effort, leading the Cougars with 259 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Other notable moves:

•  Michigan Wolverines 's victory over Notre Dame Fighting Irish resulted in the second-biggest jump this week, moving up to No. 11 from No. 17. The Fighting Irish dropped from No. 14 to No. 21.

• Miami's first ranking since Nov. 14, 2010 came as a result of their 21-16 win at home against Florida Gators . The Gators entered the game No. 12, falling to No. 18 after the loss

•  Georgia Bulldogs moved up just two spots to No. 9 after the 41-30 victory over South Carolina Gamecocks . The Gamecocks, down seven spots to No. 13, face Vanderbilt Commodores on Sept. 14.
