Penn State saw its star-studded 2022 recruiting class improve on Monday with the commitment of Cam Miller. The four-star cornerback picked the Nittany Lions over offers from Virginia Tech, Air Force, Appalachian State and Duke live on CBS Sports HQ.
Miller ranks as the No. 30 cornerback nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings and the No. 31 overall prospect from Florida in the 2022 class. He's been an option quarterback at Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida, but has been working out as a cornerback on the camp circuit to get prepared for his college career.
"Loved the coaches," Miller told 247Sports. "I loved the area up there. College town and it was everything it could offer me. The things coach Franklin is doing recruiting big-time guys, on top of that the school is great, top-tier education, that was big for me."
247Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins also notes that Miller could add value as a return specialist thanks to that experience as a successful ball-carrier in high school. He's got good size that projects well, checking in at 6-feet and 180 pounds, and joins a Nittany Lions 2022 class that ranked No. 2 nationally with 21 commits prior to his announcement with more than half of those being four-star prospects.
Below is a snippet from Ivins' scouting report on 247Sports, giving Nittany Lions fans some insight into the newest Penn State commit.
"Will need some seasoning and to be coached up before he reaches his full potential, but athletic profile is one of the best out of any defensive back in the entire 2022 cycle," Ivins wrote in his scouting report. "Could line up at multiple spots in the secondary. Might ultimately settle in as a safety, but he has the hips to get it done at cornerback."
