PHOTO: Syracuse will wear uniforms to honor Ernie Davis against USC

2012 marks the 50th Anniversary of Ernie Davis' graduation from Syracuse, and the school has decided to honor the legendary running back with a special uniform for Saturday's game against No. 2 USC in MetLife Stadium.

The patch on the front includes the legendary Syracuse No. 44, which Davis -- along with Jim Brown -- wore for the team. Davis was a two-time All-American, and in 1961 became the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. (He died of leukemia before ever playing professionally.) The field at the Carrier Dome, where Syracuse normally plays its home games, is officially named the Ernie Davis Legends Field.
