Picks: Bama over Georgia; Huskers win B1G; Stanford beats UCLA again

I'm coming off a bad week, going 8-11 against the spread to drop my record to six over .500 against the number for the season. The good: picking Notre Dame to handle USC. The bad: picking Clemson to beat South Carolina. The ugly: picking UCLA to beat Stanford. Here are this week's guesses:

Stanford 23, UCLA 17: The Cardinal won last week in Los Angeles. Expect the more physical team to win again. Stanford has a relentless front seven and leads the nation in sacks with 53. The Bruins' O-line is still really young and will continue to have headaches dealing with that bunch (No. 118 in sacks allowed).

Northern Illinois 31, Kent State 21: Kent State has had a great year, but NIU has the best player on the field, QB Jordan Lynch and he'll be the difference.

Alabama 20, Georgia 10: Aaron Murray's been a much different QB when the competition rises up. In his two games against ranked teams, he's got a 1-4 TD-INT ratio. Look for Saban and the Tide D to have some answers for him. The Dawgs do have excellent personnel on D, but the hunch here is that the experienced Bama O-line and A.J. McCarron won't be overwhelmed dealing with the heat.

Kansas State 28, Texas 14: UT has QB issues and the Wildcats will have too much Meshak Williams and Arthur Brown coming after Case McCoy.

Oklahoma 31, TCU 21: Landry Jones and the OU receivers will keep their hot streak alive.

Florida State 35, Georgia Tech 17: Even with the run of injuries, the Noles are the much more talented team and despite some staff turnover issues, this team won't lose two in a row.

Nebraska 20, Wisconsin 14: The Badgers backed into this game, having lost three of their past four games while NU is playing with more confidence and fire right now.

Oregon State 58, Nicholls State 10: Nicholls is 1-9 and has a dreadful D. Should be a blowout by the second quarter.

Oklahoma State 41, Baylor 34: Lots of firepower on the field, but OSU has the better D. The Bears are No. 119 in total defense.

Boise State 35, Nevada 20: The Pack has lost three of its last four and doesn't get enough pressure on D.
