On the day college football kicks off another season, I enjoyed getting the opportunity to speak to one of the sport's legends. Former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden took some time Thursday morning to discuss the season ahead, and some of the biggest conversation topics in the sport.

Coach Bowden is currently promoting College Colors Day, set for this Friday, Aug. 31. The holiday is an annual celebration of college sports tradition, and the 170+ million college fans across America are encouraged to wear their favorite school's colors and apparel on Friday. The College Colors Day also is the conclusion of the Pledge Your Allegiance Competition, a sprit drive that was won by Penn State. The Nittany Lions had 44,801 fans pledge their support to the in the drive, finishing just ahead of Texas A&M , Missouri, West Virginia , and Alabama.

Bowden explains College Colors Day in the podcast below, but first takes on a couple topics for the kickoff of the college football season. We discuss the future of college football, and questions yet to be answered regarding the four-team playoff and how the selection committee is assembled. Coach Bowden also weighs in on Florida State's chances in 2012, whether the SEC will rule forever, and how long it will take for Penn State to bounce back from the NCAA sanctions levied in response to the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
