Purdue has a new logo for 2012
School alters the train logo it's used in the past.
According to Purdue's associate athletic director, Tom Schott, it was Nike's idea to make some changes to Purdue's old train logo.
"It's really a Nike driven initiative," Schott told The Exponent. "Nike had come to us a while back with some suggestions. Nike said the train logo we used was not good on apparel. The smoke didn't work on shirts and hats. They recommended this slight revision."
So since Nike felt the old train logo didn't work well on apparel because of the smoke, so they decided to come up with a new train logo that features smoke. Makes sense to me!
Of course, whether it makes sense to me or not isn't what's important here. What is important is what people think of the new logo. According to an early poll by the Big Ten Network, that answer is not much.
Nearly 80% of those who have responded to the Big Ten Network's online poll have said they don't like the new logo. What do you think?
