Report: Florida State to host Notre Dame in 2014
Notre Dame's first season as a partial member of the ACC will reportedly include a trip to Tallahassee.
In 2014 Notre Dame will play its first season as a partial-member of the ACC in football, and it looks like one of its first ACC games will be played in Tallahassee.
According to Warchant.com Notre Dame will travel south to take on Florida State.
Multiple sources have told Warchant.com that the Seminoles will host Notre Dame during the 2014 season. The Irish begin partial ACC membership in football in 2014, playing five ACC teams per season.
An ACC spokesperson declined comment.
CBSSports.com's Jeremy Fowler confirmed that this is indeed the ACC's plan.
There is no date for the game just yet, but Notre Dame did just cancel a scheduled game with Arizona State last week, and the Irish have an open date on their schedule the weekend of Sept. 20. The Warchant.com reports that Florida State and the ACC are planning to schedule the game early in the season.
While both schools recently met in the 2011 Champs Sports Bowl -- an 18-14 Florida State win -- Florida State and Notre Dame have not met at Doak Campbell Stadium since 2002, when the Irish beat the Seminoles 34-23. Florida State returned the favor the following season in South Bend with a 37-0 drubbing. Florida State leads the series 4-2.
