Former South Carolina assistant coach Shawn Elliott left the staff a week ago to accept the head coaching position at Georgia State. On Thursday, the AJC obtained a copy of Elliott's contract through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Elliott, who made $500,000 as an offensive line coach last season for the Gamecocks, signed a five-year deal worth $515,000 annually to take over the Panthers program. Also in the contract, Elliott will receive a total of $62,000 annually for a car, appearance fees, apparel and a club membership.

Per the report, Elliott will have $1.15 million to spend to hire his coaching staff. South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp confirmed during his press conference on Thursday that former assistant strength and conditioning coach Cedric Williams has left the Gamecocks to join Elliott.

According to the AJC, among Elliott's potential bonuses include:

  • $50,000 if the team wins the Sun Belt Conference Championship;
  • $25,000 if the team appears in a bowl game. Should the team win, his salary will also increase by $25,000 annually;
