Talented defender Tyquan Lewis commits to Ohio State

It was close to two months since Ohio State's most recent commitment. And though the Buckeyes faithful have been treated to a great start this season, things haven't been moving quite as quick on the recruiting trail. That changed on Thursday afternoon as the program added an oral commitment from Tarboro (N.C.) defensive end/linebacker Tyquan Lewis, according to multiple reports.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder held offers from Auburn, LSU, Clemson and North Carolina among others, and had been a hot name on the recruiting trail in recent weeks as classes start to fill at certain positions. Lewis added his offer from Ohio State in late June after a stop at one of the program's camps. He has been recruited hard by the staff ever since as the Buckeyes have been trying to add at least one hybrid end/linebacker to an already strong group of commits on the defensive side.

Lewis becomes the fifth player for 2013 who plans to head to Columbus to play along the defensive line and 17th overall commitment for the Ohio State class.

Last season as a junior, the talented end racked up 63 tackles with 12 sacks.
