Texas lands talented defensive back Antwuan Davis
Texas recruiting is a different beast than most and it rarely changes but with limited numbers than normal this year, things have downshifted a tad for the class of 2013. Although it came a little later than some expected, the Longhorns' class added one more on Friday afternoon after picking up a commitment from Bastrop (Texas) defensive back Antwuan Davis.
"I really like coach (Duane) Akina," Davis told OrangeBloods.com after a visit. "I like what he does with his DBs. He has this secret that he does with his DBs to get them in the NFL. I want that secret."
The 6-foot, 180-pounder also held offers from Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma and plenty of others but it was only a matter of time before Davis headed to Texas.
"We had been talking about it. We talked thoroughly last night with his head coach," Anthony Davis, Antwuan's father, told the site. "It's a great place to be, great atmosphere, the DB coaching is the best as far as technique and we like how they take care of the kids."
Texas now has 14 commitments for the class of 2013, with Davis becoming the first defensive back in the fold. He is a four-star player and ranked 58th overall in the class by Maxpreps.
