The Army-Boston College game will be played Saturday
Boston College announced on Thursday that its game against Army would go on as scheduled this Saturday.
It's annoying when politics and sports intersect, isn't it?
With the government shutdown currently in progress there was a possibility that the country's service academies would not be able to play their games this weekend. Well, on Wednesday night it was announced that the game between Air Force and Navy would proceed as planned, and on Thursday Boston College announced its game against Army would be played as well.
“I’m pleased to announce we will host the US Military Academy this Saturday,” said Boston College athletic director Brad Bates in a release. “I’m thrilled our students and those from the service academies will get to play their games this weekend. Thank you, fans, for your patience and understanding the past couple of days. Also, thanks to Army AD Boo Corrigan, who has been terrific through this process.”
I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I fully grap what effects this current government shutdown could have on the actual country, but I know that when it threatens to take away college football games that it's gone too far.
If only our country's politicians would think about what truly matters.
