The announcement came a few hours after a report from a San Antonio television station saying two Texas players had been accused of sexual assault.
The report from KENS-TV says San Antonio police confirmed to the station they were called to the Holiday Inn Riverwalk at 2:48 a.m. on Friday. A woman alleges she met the two Texas players while out partying and invited them back to her room.
She told the police the players sexually assaulted her.
No charges have been filed in the case and there have been no arrests. The names of the players have not been released by either San Antonio police or the university.
However, a report from ESPN.com says that quarterback Case McCoy and linebacker Jordan Hicks were the two players sent home on Friday. Texas has not confirmed the report.
McCoy has seen spot duty for Texas at quarterback this season, throwing for 722 yards, 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Hicks has 23 tackles for the Longhorns in 2012, with 2.5 tackles for loss.
