USC almost done after landing defensive end Jason Hatcher

USC continued to widen its lead in the class of 2013 and may actually be done recruiting for the year after picking up a commitment from Louisville (Ky.) defensive end Jason Hatcher in Friday night.

"It didn't come down to one thing," Hatcher told "It was a multitude of things. It was the private school education. It was the players I already knew there. It was the fact that they have senior defensive ends and that I have a chance to play early."

The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder also considered Louisville, Florida  and South Carolina, among others. USC was able to vault into the lead for Hatcher when the U.S. Army All-American came out to Los Angeles to visit the school and participate in the program's Rising Stars Camp.

"As the camp started and I began working out, the thought really hit me; 'I do like it out here and I can see myself going to school here,'" he said. "On my five hour plane ride back home, I had time to really start thinking about how much I enjoyed myself at USC."

With Hatcher in the fold, USC is up to 17 commitments for the class of 2013. If the school takes transfer Silas Redd from Penn State, as reports have suggested, the Trojans are likely set with their recruiting class this year, which currently occupies the top spot in the MaxPreps team rankings.
