VIDEO: Ryan Switzer's record-tying punt return
North Carolina's Ryan Switzer returned a punt for a touchdown for the fifth time this season, tying an NCAA record.
The Belk Bowl will be the final game of the season for North Carolina's Ryan Switzer. He may never get the chance to return another punt in his career. At least, if North Carolina's opponents have any clue what they're doing he wont.
This is why.
That 86-yard punt return is the fifth time that Switzer has returned a punt for a touchdown this season. That's right, the fifth time. It ties the NCAA record set by five others: Chad Owens (Hawaii, 2004), Curtis DeLoatch (North Carolina A&T, 2001), LeRoy Vann (Florida A&M, 2009), James Rooths (Shepherd, 1998) and Chris McKinney (Guilford, 2001).
If Cincinnati is dumb enough to punt to Switzer again during the Belk Bowl he might just have the record to himself.
These five teams have the best chance of being the Group of Five darling this coming year
