QB Tyler Bray is leaving Tennessee early to put his name into April's NFL Draft, a source told CBS.
Bray, who will turn 21 later this month, is sure to intrigue NFL personnel types due to his size and arm. The 6-6, 220-pounder, a three-year-starter for the Vols, threw 69 TDs against just 28 interceptions in his career. However, despite Bray's talent and a freakish group of receivers and an experienced O-line, Tennessee still only went 5-7 and just 1-7 in SEC play.
In 2012, Bray threw for 34 touchdowns and just 12 interceptions and over 3,600 yards while completing 59 percent of his passes. However, in games against teams currently ranked in the Top 25, Bray had an 8-8 TD-INT ratio and failed to complete more than 50 percent of his passes in two of those four games. The Vols also never beat a ranked opponent in his three seasons in Knoxville with then-UT head coach Derek Dooley.
Scouts praise Bray's stature, arm and his gunslinger mentality, although the latter, coupled with questions about his maturity, will also give other NFL personnel people plenty to ponder.
