Who's Playing

Louisville @ No. 24 Wake Forest

Current Records: Louisville 3-1; Wake Forest 4-0

What to Know

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Louisville Cardinals are set to square off in an ACC matchup at 12:30 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at Truist Field. The Demon Deacons are out to keep their three-game home win streak alive.

While not quite a landslide, the contest between Wake Forest and the Virginia Cavaliers last Friday was still a pretty decisive one as Wake Forest wrapped it up with a 37-17 win on the road. Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 270 yards on 29 attempts.

Special teams collected 13 points for Wake Forest. K Nick Sciba delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

Meanwhile, U of L beat the Florida State Seminoles 31-23 last week. The Louisville offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway. U of L's QB Malik Cunningham was on fire, passing for two TDs and 264 yards on 39 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 56 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Cunningham's 59-yard TD bomb to WR Tyler Harrell in the first quarter.

The Cardinals' defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed FSU's offensive line to sack QB McKenzie Milton six times for a total loss of 37 yards. The heavy lifting was done by LB Yasir Abdullah and DL Ashton Gillotte, who each racked up two sacks.

The Demon Deacons are the favorite in this one, with an expected 7-point margin of victory. They have been consistent moneymakers against the spread when favored (2-0), so they might be worth a quick bet.

The wins brought Wake Forest up to 4-0 and U of L to 3-1. Two defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Wake Forest is 195th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with seven on the season. U of L has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 191st most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up seven on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
