WATCH: A special Alabama senior day moment almost made Nick Saban cry
Senior Lawrence Erekosima was reunited with his mother, who has been stationed overseas
In this big business that we call college football, it's easy to forget the ones playing the game are still 18-to-22-year-olds. Call them adults, call them kids, call them whatever you like, but they're still non-professionals. And football is still a sport bigger than the outcome of a game.
That's why senior day is special, and it was especially so for Alabama walk-on running back Lawrence Erekosima. During pre-game ceremonies, Erekosima was surprised by being reunited with his mother, who is in the Army and stationed overseas in Kuwait.
The reunion was so touching, it even got to coach Nick Saban.
"For his mother to be able to come today, it almost made me cry," Saban said via AL.com.
And, why, they say Saban's heart grew three sizes that day.
